Children are the future!

In Rhotia Valley Children's Home we currently care for 24 children. All were introduced by the community of Rhotia - church, school, and village council. Most of them are orphans, children who - as so many children in Tanzania -  have had to cope with pressure of HIV, malnourishment, family breakdown. Children who do need extra care and help to live a healthy and happy life - to build a positive future!

Two hills one goal

In order to make the project successful and create sustainability, with minimal dependence on donations and help from outside, we came to the idea to build the Tented Lodge. Profits generated from the Tented Lodge are directly used for the running costs of the Children's Home.

Our project - Rhotia Valley Tented House and Children's Home - is completely embedded in the community of Rhotia. Our aim is to give support to the people - and especially the children - of the Rhotia area - in such a way that the entire village is committed and the villagers feel part of the project and embrace it.

To strengthen our commitment to the village and the environment, not only do all the children in the home come from Rhotia, but all the people working at the lodge and caring for the children are also from the local community. The local village council is very supportive of the project and we have outstanding relationships with local schools, churches and village elders.

In the circle of children's houses there also is a conference hall where community workshops and educational lessons about health, AIDS, nutrition, computers, sports and arts and crafts are given.
